Each month, an A5 envelope arrives at your door from Dead Letters - a small (and fictional) near-forgotten company tasked with storing undelivered mail from across the last century.

Inside is a second envelope. Older. Worn thin at the folds. Addressed to someone you’ve never met.

Open it, and you step into the life of the sender.

Letters from artists arriving in Paris with nothing but optimism. Train tickets tucked into coat pockets during wartime. Matchbooks, theatre flyers, receipts, photographs, sketches, ration cards, telegrams, hotel stationery - the fragile, disposable objects people were never meant to keep.

The Art of Story telling through world building

The Dead Letters is built around the idea that the smallest details are what make a world feel real.

• A tram ticket to a place long since changed.
• A hastily written note from the café where two lovers met.
• A photograph carried for years, faded softly at the folds.

Using techniques from immersive theatre and period graphic design, each letter is accompanied by this handmade ephemera, designed as though genuinely carried through another time. These disposable paper fragments become storytelling in themselves, revealing entire lives through texture, typography, wear, and use.

Rather than treating ephemera as decoration, Dead Letters treats it as evidence: traces of people, places, and moments that feel as though they truly existed.

Experience history first hand not at it's cleanest or most monumental, but history at its most human.
